Purely at random I bumped into a guy called Guy today with a mid 80's (at least) Carhartt Detroit jacket & a very LL Bean look. His daughter was playing along side mine after lunch...
We chatted and he knew all about the old Florsheim Smooths & a whole lot more.
A really nice guy who I hope will find something to interest him here. We could all certainly learn a lot from him.
I mention him here because he's just a regular bloke, nothing to do with the Internet or any clothes shop, who just so happens to know his stuff when it comes to all those little known (over here) American names.
One of many out there.

Different scenario I grant you but it’s always good when the unexpected happens. Probably about 15 years back a guy came up to my desk as soon as our doors opened for business one morning. I recognised him as a then 'regular' - about 40 years old, desperately in need of a shower and looking like he was a roadie with Hawkwind circa 1970. I'd also heard from people that he was a junkie living rough and he certainly seemed that way. Anyway, straight off he says to me "Nice shirt mate, is it Brooks Brothers?” Gobsmacked by this guy uttering those words I replied “No - Hathaway" His reply: "Oh, Brooks Brothers are my favourites - them and Gant". And with that he walked away talking to himself. Never judge a book etc....

I mentioned you to this guy as it 'appens, Stace.
Hope he'll post.
