What's so wrong with that outfit?  It seems pretty innocuous to me.  Definitely not the best dressed dude I've ever seen, but not the worst either, by a long shot.

True enough, JDelage.  Innocuous though none of it fits him particularly well.

Re: New Improved Inane Post of the Day Thread (50% More Snark)

^Many people have wondered the same thing about Cruiser, giving rise to speculation that he was some sort of sock puppet or troll. Evidence has been produced, however, that he is a real person who lives in central Tennessee.

The analogy I might use would be if I went on a forum devoted to fans of high-dollar mechanical watches and argued with relentless pertinacy that for a few hundred dollars I can buy a handsome, stylish battery-powered watch than keeps better time than their mechanical marvels that cost 20 to 50 times as much or more (which rather reflects my personal attitude to the matter of timepieces). Let us further suppose, if I were of a more boorish bent, that I then argued endlessly that men who would drop $20K or so on a wristwatch were stupid spendthrifts, engaging in egregious conspicuous consumption, were "hateful snobs" (to borrow a Cruiserism), etc. Let us also suppose that because I claimed to be Viet Nam veteran and a patriotic Republican, the despotic moderator of this watch forum let me get away with this at will. Eventually, most fans of the high-dollar watches abandoned the forum or reduced their participation, while men with similar tastes in cheap watches came to predominate in the forum. In that case, perhaps I would find the power of having remade a forum to which I brought little more than ignorance, prejudice and lowbrow taste in my own image might be a heady experience. However, in real life, I have better things to do than argue with fans of $30K watches.

Capt Preppy, RSmeyer, and I, among many others have been studying the "Cruiser" train wreck for a long time, and it is still very difficult to figure out. Capt Preppy has a good analogy about the Timex owner getting locked into an endless debate with those that post in a Rolex owners MB. After exchanging PMs with those here that I respect, trying to figure it out, maybe it falls somewhere in the realm of abnormal psychology, as follows:

>An incredibly mundane existence that contains no compelling interests.

>A psychotic need for attention, apparently lacking in the real world.

>An abnormal need to pursue insignificant arguments into the third ring of Saturn. IE, one thread started out on some point on clothing, and ended up with Cruiser getting locked into debate about the number of draftees in the Viet Nam war, and insisting that a poster furnish verifiable evidence on his opinions. An absolutely bizarre position.

In the '70s when the courts in NYC,held that mental patients could no longer be forced to take their meds, there were people like this roaming the streets. looking for arguments. The rule was to always avoid eye contact, and to keep moving rapidly. The tourists that made the mistake of engaging these people were occupied endlessly, and it was difficult for an observer to tell which party was nuts.

It also gets into the philosophy of AA. Apparently, they feel that anyone has a right to bring down the level of discourse, as long as you don't argue with AK, or otherwise break their rules. EG, Cruiser, Howard, and others have really devalued the currency that once was fairly highly regarded.

The standards seem to be fluid. One poster gets banned for selling stuff that doesn't get delivered. Now we see the Frankes, who were the Madoffs of the tie business,  come back into favor, being relentlessly defended by AK.

It's their site, and their business as to how they run it. A bit sad to see the results.

^ Bishop it is just a play on words/names.

More bizarre was the seemingly earnest  belief expressed earlier in the thread that they would sell the name and make the cloth elsewhere, though preferably not China.

Harris is in a sorry state. Conflicting stories about prices too. We know Haggas cannot even give away his own jackets -eBay offers proof.

l think the man maybe mentally disturbed. His interest is not clothes and l don't think he is a troll. l don't read Boozer much, but he is good for a quick smile. He doesn't bother me, but he is not good for the old man's place.

Cruiser is anti-Andy to the bone, in that he believes anything from big box stores looks just as good as the over-priced crap Andy's sponsors sell, and stuff not available at the big box, i.e. black patent leather shoes, simply isn't necessary.  Cruiser is active, most recently in WAYWT threads where people compliment him on his taste and style, but I think most of the people at Andy's don't stay long enough to even know who he is and his potential for damage is minimal.
