I wear 'em, so so can you!
(Got the 'Walnut' on right now - heading out - )
These would be Shadow Plaid, Mr. Beatnik. Rather like some seriously vintage Pendletons I've seen.
Mrs Weejun sits in the evenings watching TV clothed entirely in Brora cashmere from head to toe. Only cashmere will do for her.
We once went to the Johnstons of Elgin factory shop braving a blizzard on the cairngorms and she went completely crazy like a cashmere sugar rush, grabbing armfuls of stuff like she was at a Barneys sale, at one point pulling out a nice tartan blanket from one of bargain bins only to shout at the top of her voice 'ah it's a blend! I didn't come all this way for blends!"
Like all British factory shops it's worth a visit as they sell the stylish stuff they think is strange for no money, and the horrible scotch house stuff for lots to coaches of tourists.
Scarfs should be fairly straightforward. Yet I am amazed by the striped rubbish draped around people's necks and featured in outside broadcasts by BBC news reporters.
Tartan is fine. I am completely with the Yanks as regards scarfs; but anti-Yank on everything else. OK you can get away with ties too on occasion.
Plain is fine.
School or college is fine - if you are at school or college.
Paisley silk and wool combination are fine-looking and were fashionable back in the day, though nobody mentions them. They are not suitable for really cold days as silk material is not warm to the touch.
Old style, two colour football scarfs are fine (with no crests or writing). They can be had for £2 but are probably acrylic.
Palestinian scarfs usually indicate a soap dodger or trendy.
