Hank Williams III - Country Heroes
You guys always suprise me on this thread..I went to see Hank III in concert a few months back. The show had the weirdest crowd I have ever been a part of. I ended up doing shots of bourbon and talking about Webb Pierce with a woman old enough to be my grandmother.
^I would like to see him, I hear he does three sets - Country standards, thrash metal and his own Country rebel stuff? He's too afraid to fly, that's why he won't tour outside of the US.
Tom Russell is another country singer I greatly respect, seen him live and also, although more traditional Dale Watson, has quite a cult following here in the Netherlands. Its like a golden age of alt-country/Americana or whatever they want to call it.
He did two sets when I saw him. His country stuff stuff mixed with some covers (great version of Cocaine Blues) and then his metal stuff. Dale Watson is good, too. Not sure if you know him, but if you get a chance check out Wayne Hancock. His stuff is total bare bones honky tonk, mixed with some rockabilly. It's fantastic.
I've a number of Wayne Hancock CD's. This is pretty damn good:

Heavens no, the only newspaper whose demographic is exclusively social workers and secondary school sociology teachers. More country from Ray Charles, with Ivy-shadow plaid jacket:

Lee Morgan - These Are Soulful Days
Blind Boys of Alabama are indeed most excellent, I've their Realworld label stuff on CD. The live album is superb,
I believe, these played an outstanding set, if not stole the show at the 'Beyond Nashville' festival, but not on the Amazon CD :

Too much wickedness and vanity on the clothing forums.
Praise The Lord !
That's real vintage Carter family there, true first family of Country stuff.
As way of connection, Johnny Cash married June Carter and Nick Lowe married their daughter (and later divorced):
