no, no scanning, he just measured the traditional way, a tape measure and minilla folder
edit: i knew that most of the melbourne shoemakers use Bruce, i did not know Andrew Mc uses him too.

l'll be interested to see if they are goodyear welted here or overseas. l wonder if they'll answer my email.
l saw a pair in my size the other week with an all leather heel, leather sole, but a rubber welt. They were NOS (1988) and fit me. They were only asking $20, but l passed.

Great thread.
Never found a bespoke last maker in Athens...but more information on the Greek ones in Melbourne would be welcome, especially their contact information/e-mail
you bring up an interesting point on brass screwing being similar the hardwood pegging, i very much dbout anyone on oz does a full pegged shoe anymore, but i'd like gto get one made for me in my lifetime, i think marcel would be the only one willing to do it/have the skills to do it. i dont even think the british firms do pegged soles anymore
Wrigglez, Gabor Halmos has a mystery budapest shoemaker he is collaborating with. I have posted these pics before. I saw the shoes in person and saw the pegged soles.
The 16-19 pics scrolling down shoe the pegged soles. http://www.styleforum.net/showthread.php?t=150290&highlight=Mystery+Budapest+Shoemaker
Stay tuned folks, i've got some incredible stuff to share in a while. Made some great discoveries.
I've discovered an old bookmaker who makes boots in his shed completely by hand and i've discovered a lady who can also make shoe by hand. Pics will be coming.
The bootmaker is in the middle of no-where and it will be a 12 hour drive to meet him and a 12 hour drive back home. I'm sending him some pics of crocadile hornback leather to see if it's a suitable pattern and size for bootmaking. I will ask him to make Ropers for me; this is a lifelong dream come true, i've wanted proper croc boots since l was about 6 years old. If the leather looks like it could work for boots, l then pay a deposit and send it to him for testing. He only makes boots in his spare time, so l will have to be very patient...may have to wait a year. I won't be able to see him until Christmas time, so my boot project could be almost 2 years from completion. I'll post pics of his boots another day. He didn't originally want to make me a pair but l talked him into it.
Funny enough, he goes under the name of `shoeman' and was also taught by the legendary George Koleff.
Lots of other stuff to come too. I'm very very excited, making great in-roads.
