Kinda boring this morning:

Celebrating the grandeur and artistry of the Great Alden Shoe Manufacturing Corporation in inimitably awkward Andyland style.

A thread on clothing pet peeves simmers down into the typical Andyland gumbo of bizarre opinions and bad advice. I've come around on Earle of Ormonde, he seems OK, and I actually agree with some of Cruiser's points in the thread (he finds it annoying that guys who have never left Wisconsin are saying "braces" and "waistcoat"). Watch for some truly arcane ("wrong") explanations from high-priced streetfighter Cuff Daddy. The thread left me with two questions:
- Do cuffs (or in Forum British, turn-ups) actually weight the pants leg and make it hang straighter? I've had both cuffed and plain pants for many years and never really noticed a difference, but I certainly have noticed plenty of monster 2-3" cuffs on these forumites.
- Forum cutie-pie Peak and Pine claims to have stiffeners sewn into his pants cuffs - is this a sign of moral or mental decay? Does he need razor-sharp cuffs in Maine? Am I missing out here? Should I have my tailor (I use a guy in Sri Lanka because he's $2.00 cheaper on most alterations) sew stiffeners into all my clothes?
Not even sure this is inane but I rarely get surprised by what shows up on the message boards anymore so here you go: http://www.styleforum.net/showthread.php?t=169939
Hi guys, maybe you can help me with this problem - I'm looking to upgrade my wardrobe. I got a bespoke suit from Mytailor.com and some thrift store tweed jackets, and I have two button down shirts (blue and white, is that enough? They're from Jos. A Banks). I also got some Park Aves for a deep discount from a funeral home (no one needs to be buried with shoes this awesome!). But I can't seem to find a source for these accessories I really need:
- Shell cordovan collar stays
- Shell cordovan watchband
- Shell cordovan cell phone belt holster
- Shell cordovan gun holster (support concealed carry on college campuses!)
- Shell cordovan fedora
- Shell cordovan shaving brush
- Shell cordovan briefcase
- Shell cordovan rolling laptop case (I have a bad back because my feet are only size 3)
- Shell cordovan DJ (peak lapels of course LOL!)
My budget for all these things together is $380.00, does that sound right? Ideally I'd like to get only factory seconds and then have my local leatherworker tailor them to fit my needs, and also re-dye them (I don't like all existing cordovan colors). Does Alden make a cordovan orthopedic back brace?

^Oh, I'm much too old and decrepit to try to play ITG!
*Chuckle*
Trad IS Japanese. Plus they do it better.
... And even the term is from them.
You'd think they'd know that on the Trad forum...
