Always interesting... But never quite 'right'.
Jeremy H. started off with a chum selling vintage bespoke togs. Then copying them. Then knocking off his own stuff 'inspired' by all the old cuts.
The vintage bespoke copies were/are his forte.
Where he went wrong was in charging too much (Are you listening Jeremy Boden?).
The whole thing falls apart when your customers realise that they can shop in (where?) Cordings (?) and get AUTHENTICITY & 'The Look' for the same money or less. Why pay for Engish theme park clothes when you can get the real deal? Jeremy is our Ralph.
IMVHO -
Menswear landed in my mailbox today, with Samantha Conti rewriting the piece on Jeremy Hackett that she wrote for DNR which Horace posted above. Has anyone seen Hackett's book "Mr. Classic"? Hackett's 12 style pointers included with the article seem quite sane.
Incidentally, my subscription to Menswear was free--if you hunt around the net you can probably find a way to score it for nothing as well.
