Re: Ask Andy: A Case Study

And Mr. Myerson has now been suspended:
http://www.askandyaboutclothes.com/forum/showpost.php?p=1068707&postcount=30

There's a nice "1984" feel to the way they are using these rules against Mr. Myerson - if The Dandy is a troll, then the mods will take care of him and you can't confront him, if he is not a troll then you're not allowed to say anything because it's not "gentlemanly", and if the mods are wrong then you can't criticize them because they're busy volunteers. Internet mods, man, they do love to establish these tiny e-dystopias! Absolute power corrupts absolutely, and a diminishingly small amount of power apparently does the same thing!

Mr. Myerson, bid farewell to that silly website, it isn't worth your time to argue with these trifling people.

Re: Ask Andy: A Case Study

I gather I'm banned. Not that Mr Gilchrist was able to summon up the courage to tell me of course.

Oh well. I shall write to Mr Gilchrist's advertisers and encourage them to stop paying him or giving him freebies. I am a member of a rather large syndicate who are likely to support me, so something may yet be done in terms of teaching Blandy some manners.

Contrary to lies of FNB and Woofboxer, I (and most of the other "Buff Bastards") have been banned from posting on this forum. There are only a few posters left so don't waste your time on here. This forum is dead and nobody cares.

Re: Ask Andy: A Case Study

Andy points are good things to have. Welldressedfellow is a pinhead (the name!) who stalked me with unsolicited emails. I complained to andy and got a shitload of Andy points.  Andy points are good things!

I appreciate your frustration, and the injustice you feel about the Dandy.  He, and they, are huge weeping leaking assholes, and you are not.  They are pixels on a screen, they cease to exist the minute you turn off your monitor.   Enjoy your Andy points and move on.  Leave them in the dust.

Re: Ask Andy: A Case Study

The important thing to remember is that AAAC/AAAT are not forums. They exist for other reasons.
In a similar way that the commercial blogs are not real blogs either - ACL, Will, Chensvold, etc.

... And all that 'Gentlemanly' stuff is purely for the proley punters they attract. My Dear Sir.

Pip Pip -

Courage!

Re: Ask Andy: A Case Study

Finally visiting here after much time spent on both SF and Ask Andy About Cruiser.

I already gather that this place, much like SF, will prove to be far more entertaining that AAAC.

Groupthink at both places - although more interesting here. Also, in view of Simon's experience, while there is proper conflict here - nothing wrong with that - at AA you are more likely to be stabbed in the back. It will be recalled that Sir Humphrey Appleby noted that to stab someone in the back, it is first necessary to be right behind them.

Here's the Ask Andy case study. How much of a loser would you need to be to ask if you can wear a pocket square with a tweed jacket?

Re: Ask Andy: A Case Study

A brief note - The Dandy, and his semi-obvious sockpuppet Augustus, have now disappeared from Ask Andy entirely. Banned or just bored? Who knows!

Re: Ask Andy: A Case Study

So WTF and Blandy have so misjudged matters as to lose me at the expense of a troll and his mate/alter ego - all because they couldn't respond to a simple request like gentlemen. Bet the advertisers are flocking.

As an experiment I have now told 2 of those advertisers that I am banned from AA but that unless I got the discount I wouldn't think of buying. No problem - offered the discount, without obligation. Worth knowing and an interesting comment on whether Blandy adds any value. Have also recommended to 5 others that they think again before associating themselves with the brand and told them why. Currently awaiting a response - doubt that it will make any real difference (that may require the syndicate involvement which I have not yet threatened) but will keep you posted.

Re: Ask Andy: A Case Study

Those are reasonable questions to which the answer is no.

I wanted to be told why I was being warned for calling out a troll. I expressed myself in a way which I thought would get me what I wanted. In doing so I took Blandy at his own valuation. That he is a screaming hypocrite is his problem. I thought that he would be more likely to respond sensibly if he was addressed as he wished to be addressed. The same applies to WTF, who poses on AA as some sort of idealised gentleman (perhaps this is where i-gent comes from?), but behaves like a small-minded and frightened jobsworth whose role as a 'Moderator' is his life-defining achievement.

I actually didn't want to be banned by Blandy, although it hardly matters that I was. Had I told him to go fuck himself, I would have been banned for sure.

I am enjoying the company of the other convicts, thank you ... smile
