l'm going to approach Cleverley and some of our local retailers to see if l can get a trunk show happening for aussie blokes. l believe there is a market for it; if l get the backing of a good retailer l think we can find/draw the customers.
It's probably a long shot posting on the forums, but would anyone be interested in getting some bespoke shoes made?
l'll find out some details and get back to this thread later.
l aproached Melbourne's best shoo shop today about a Cleverley trunk show. The shoo shop sells mainly English goodyear welted shoos and Church's as there best at around $800 - $900. l was feeling really positive, was very persuasive and felt confident that l could talk the owner into having the Cleverley folks come downunder to stun fellows with shear shoo-brilliance. l was wrong!
When l mentioned the price he was shocked and said none of his customers would even consider anything near that price. He said that he'd even be too embarrassed to ask his best customers to buy bespoke shoos at $3,500+ ASD. l did everything l could but the fellow couldn't get passed the price. l tried explaining why they are well worth the price but he couldn't appreciate shoos at that level. lf this bloke read the forums he'd think we are all crazy.
l'll try afew other places in coming weeks. lf l can't get Henry Bucks to the party, i'll have to pitch Harrolds for Gaziano & Girling, they'll cost even more, but what else can l do.
Why don't you host the next Satorial Excellence in Melbourne?
