Hamburg

Do any of our German friends know of good restaurants and bars in Hamburg preferably ones serving local produce ?

Similarly what are the places to avoid ? Not really looking for a sordid time in the Reeperbahn for example.

Re: Hamburg

you'll find a lot of stuff on the net...

This sounds really traditional:

Zum Alten Lotsenhaus
Övelgönne 13
22605 Hamburg (Othmarschen)

Tel: 040 8800196
Fax: 040 8802443

They serve "Labskaus"...

Ask Moose about it! I'd say it's Hamburg's answer to Haggis... A required taste seafood dish...

Hank

Thanks.  My dancing days were decades ago.

Labskaus looks interesting as does Matjes salted herrings and Finkenwerde Scholle. Astra beer seems to be the key local brew as well.

I have one of those DK guides to the city which I have always found the most useful in the past compared to Rough Guide, Lonely Planet, Time Out.
