AF doesn't look so slim here. Actually, I found his outfit quite appaling. http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_fiOqQcVJP_g/S8NX_QPJTfI/AAAAAAAADcg/E9y8b5LsYC4/s1600/DSC07404.JPG  The other guy's suit is awful-an AF suit, I presume?

Re: recent pic of Mr. Flusser

I dont like the belt either but the shirt, suit and pocket square combination are interesting. The tie is too funereal, he is forcing the whole black and white theme. Maybe a black tie with a silvery design on it would be better. I dont like the cut of that suit, it is too roomy.

It would be interesting to see what shoes he is wearing with this suit.

Clothing is often about context. Mr. FLusser is both a clothie and in the biz so he can wear more theatrical outfit and indeed is expected to. Now, I understand that if one is not confidant or has a job where being invisible is the goal, then this combination is not for you. However, there are people who need to assert their dominance or announce their presence immediately and it isnt having a handful of iGents remark lusciously about how conservative his attire is, rather it's by getting people with aggressive personalities to acknowledge one immediately. Definitely the sort of clothing to be remembered as a player in.

His salt and pepper hair seems to have gone south in some unholy affront to shatnez. I look at him crying for a little colour like a polar explorer taking on a welcome delivery of fresh fruit and vegetables.

I think the outfit is pretty cool.  Obviously, it's over the top, but why not?  I would have gone for a pocket square in mostly-white-with-some-black motif to lighten the whole, or a navy blue tie.  But overall I think it's pretty well done, in a showy way.

Re: recent pic of Mr. Flusser

I remember seeing Ben Rothliesberger of the Pittsburgh Steelers doing a national sports interview about a year ago. The host had a jacket and tie on but Big Ben was unshaven, in a sweatshirt and backwards ball cap. I thought aloud what a mannerless slob. Someone I dont have a high opinion of thought that his mode of dress was a great thing; demonstrated how he was just a regular Joe, wasn't going to put on an act and stick it to the man... or whatever. I see that a couple of rape accusations later he walked out of the Football commissioners office shaved and in a suit and tie.

The lessons you can learn about clothes are very interesting. I notice that the number one failure on clothes message boards are subjective opinions of people with no experience set down as universals. While I dont deny that tens of millions of morons make their own reality based on what they feel to escape the pain of thinking or learning. However, I note also that the people that matter dont really care what these millions think nor do they ever seem to really have any influence, in spite of their numbers.

To me, the outfit is less objectionable than the child molester/gravedigger haircut.

I still don't understand how you guys can justly imparting so much importance or significance to clothing. But I think I can understand why.

Re: recent pic of Mr. Flusser

I was just listening to my classical music station. Sadly, for some reason my house radio barely picks up the local band signal, KUSC of the University having 5 up and down the coast. I am sometimes subjected to this pop station intrusion.
So, I'm listening to Mozart who created miracles within a set of musical rules and suddenly I get some garage band talking about capping cops  via undescended testicle voices accentuated by speaker feedback.
Charming.
Rules can be broken, giving fresh vistas if it works. if it doesn't people walk out for the car radio.
