God bless the Japanese, and the Italians - peoples of true taste and undertanding of the finer things. Why has the Anglo-Saxon world become so goddamn shabby? Do we eat too much bread, chips and cheap red meat? Just a theory. Diet matters, y'know. Bresaola and sushi or a big Mac?
g.g.
hmm, uniqlo quality/detail is questionable often. Apologies for taking this thread off track.
Surely these are some type of sta-prest? The seams and back pocket look like what you get on jeans - and they have a very sharp crease.
LOL Hey Weej,You're cracking me up, these things (I like em for the price) not to be mistaken for extravagance nor elegance are good for everyday walking around and they are comfy but nooo way dudes are paying $60+ some sites had em for $20 last year and some still for that price. I agree imitation pig skin is absurd.I have 80s Britishers with pig skin inside,I also have 90s Britishers with cowhide and 2000 Samsung model Britishers with calfskin, which are the best they made em and the most comfy shoe I have but again fake "pig skin" is reeealy saying something about how much one(the company) doesnt desire quality. The dudes I know all caught em for like 20 to 30 and this cat we bought em from on ebay paid $10 or less at the Foot Locker outlet somewhere, every State has a couple. So when you think about the cost and the fact that they don't look bad it evens out, just dont sit in circles with cats wearing George Cox Sanders or any upscale Playboy shoe and you will be alright...

Don't get me wrong, if they didn't have plastic inside I'd wear them for knocking around, but here in Europe even the cheapest crap shoes made in china will always have leather lining even if the insole footpad isn't. Wearing shoes with plastic inside is a sure fire way to suicide of the feet
Plant pots. Pour some epoxy into the feckers and use them as plat pots. That'll serve 'em right.
could be worse - if the label was correct then i saw some all-synthetic 'suede' desert boots yesterday on Oxford Street!
I know what you mean re Sanders - "Coming Soon", "This Week" and now "Coming Soon" again.......
Doesn't look like there are any Playboys that I am interested in but the natural crepe soled shoes could be something.....
Yeah 6 they are "fugazis" and believe it or not I wondered why my dogs felt like they were sweating I guess they actually were. I think all the padding they put in the shoe mainly the tongue makes em feel good on your feet. Some dudes wont wear nuthin but Sanders again Citi shoes in Manhattan carries them also Mikes shoe Warehouse 212-921-8218 same Playboys on the end of the table on page 11 posted by Weej I think they still go for $180 a pop I know for sure Citi shoes wants $220. I dont like the pointed toe on the Sanders thats why I traded my Davanzatis but I wished I hadnt I emailed the ebay seller and asked him he said he's all out so...Later Guys
Eagle eyed as ever over there in LA, Fred has spotted that Sanders may not have added photos to their website yet on the infamous Casuals - Coming Soon section, but they have marked it 'Next Week' and more importantly the playboy chukkas have been slipped into the listing in snuff suede, not just dark brown.
The name 'playboy sole' has been replaced, possibly due to problems with the name. I was surprised when I found they actually had that printed on the box. Maybe the Danish (or go forbid Hugh Hefner himself) read this forum?
(EDIT: Four weeks after ordering PBs from Pointer who gave me excuse after excuse blaming Sanders without actually giving any concrete reasons as to why they weren't shipped I finally gave up and Pointer agreed to 'refund me immediately'. That was TWO weeks ago, and still no refund. Just to let anyone else thinking of buying PBs from Pointer know ( they are listed for less than Sanders own site).)

Shamrock, I wasn't being clear.
I was using the Clarks comparison (as sold in the UK) as a reference in terms of what $65.00 is in the US for the average person - here it would equate to a pair of shoes for £65.00 (which of course in reality something like $105.00) in terms of what is perceived as a market standard price for joe punter out to buy some shoes. That price point here would almost certainly be mostly leather lined, if only the visible parts like the heel quarter.
As an aside, despite making some of the best shoes in world, the British generally do not spend their money on their shoes (unless designer branded crap, but they're not paying for quality just peer pressure). Although the retail price of a pair of Alfred Sargent brogues is approx £175.00 (and Sargent are good but not top tier makers) if you polled the man in the street he would probably say that £79.99 was the most he'd pay for a 'top quality pair of shoes'. The idea of most British men having more than one pair of these evil necessities would be considered 'suspicious'. Of course we all know guys who are into shoes, but in the general population this is a mere drop in the proverbial ocean.
Forgot about the exchange rate.
I don't think the average american spends much more on shoes. I don't think I ever have, for that matter. Maybe redwing seconds. Prior to rooting out this forum and learning more about shoes I would have thought that anything over 200 bucks for a dress shoe was stark raving insane. Incidentally, I came across a company called robinsons in cty. antrim who make longwings- anyone ever heard of them? How would they compare to an AE or alden?
The thing to remember is the golden rule of $ to £ - whatever you guys pay for something in $ we pay the same number of £s minimum, a lot of the times we pay a premium on that. It's always been that way as long as I could remember.
Some things like Apple products are now a bit closer to parity (plus import duty) but generally the rule is true. If you pay $99.00 we'll be paying £99.00 (or $150-160). This has been true even in times of two dollars to the pound - importers pay less but the prices never seem to reflect that, it's always 'what will the market tolerate'.
Come on then Sanders. You have an eager potential customer feverishly hitting the F5 button here. Fo' real.
Hey guys, I see dudes are reeeeal eager to get their hands on a pair of Sanders, has anyone called Mikes Shoe Warehouse the number is posted he def takes orders over the phone as well as ships I dont know the number to Citi Shoes but if anyone is interested Ill find it and post it.

Ah... there they are. Very nice bunch of shoes. The only ones not showing up are the snuff PB boots I'm after. Loving the dirty "Jacks" as well.
