Well, history never repeats itself, but it sometimes stutters.
Personally, I don't see the race / xenophobia thing moving at all the way antisemitism did in Germany. There are plenty of more minor differences too, such as the very different way the gvt is taking over pieces of the economy.
We should meet - Rue du Cotentin.

I'd love to. I used to live avenue du Maine, I like the 14th a lot. I'm now close to Victor Hugo, and taking classes at Arts & Metiers, but I can move to the Montparnasse area easily enough. Beg. of next week (Mon - Wed) might be ideal for me, preferably (1) mornings no earlier than 9:30 (dropping kiddo at creche at 8:30), or (2) noonish.
OK. For what it's worth, Rand & Objectivists completely agree that government is indispensable, for the military, law enforcement, and the justice system.
Personally I am weary of isms and ists. All of these people are interesting. But I've found they all have one hand extended to shake mine and the other one reaching for my pocket and God knows what else they want to shake. I've been active in cause celebs spanning radical environmentalism to conservative firearm possession. It doesn't take long to recognise most fellow activists are at best usefull idiots one doesn't want to get pulled over in a car with.
Yawn...........

Not awesome, but the thread below is interesting:
http://www.askandyaboutclothes.com/forum/showthread.php?93077-Do-feet-grow-longer-with-age
l don't want to make conclusions, but the people who seem to get longer feet are the people with high arches. The people with flat feet don't seem to be getting longer feet because the arches are already flat and the feet are probably as long as they are going to get. Many people with high arches will get longer feet as the arches fall over time. That's the way i'm seeing it.
A cordwainer says that having a last maker who has no shoo making experience is risky.

Ya know...i'm getting more and more respect for this fellow by the day. He knows what he is talking about when it comes to shoos. l have never taken anything he said as gospel, but l have spoken to lots of shoo-men in Australia, all the stuff spoken about confirms what this man has always said.
1). The gemming DOES fail, it's common.
2). There are problems with using a last maker with no shoe making experience.
3). Handwelted does force the maker to use a superior quality insole.
I don't see gays as the new 'jewish question.' There is a gay backlash much like the late civil rights movement. People will make comments along the lines of ' We GAVE you XYZ, what else do you want?' My personal theory is the 'what else' is the post enfranchisemnt exercise to be just as much a bigoted asshole regardless of race, creed, colour, sexual orientation or physical disability as everybody else.
The gay population is so universal, crossing all ethnic, religious, economic lines that a major pogrom would make to many strange bedfellows, ie the catholic cardinal who met a mormon bishop in Honolulu to map common action vs gay rights. To many old closeted hatreds to make "the enemey of my enemy is my friend" work.
At one point I began thinking the white male would be scapegoat with all the advertising making them the butt of ridicule and a slanted taught history of colonialism that ignores the enthusiastic participation and collusion of many colonised.
No, I think the next 'jewish qustion' will be one of the West as target as immigration 'reform' and PC tolerance to the point of surrender and even suppression of our own culture takes place.
I'm taking notes on Shooey's shoemakers so I can walk away from it all.
