Threads like this make me briefly regret selling some of the firearms I once owned.I bought a H&R marketed harpoon rifle on a Martini action, as seen in JAWS. I had trained with the 1917 Enfield line throwing rifle and with the help of a machinist had 3 brass line projectiles made for it. Long after they were discontinued I sold it at a nice profit to another ex coastie fitting out his own charterboat.
I built a blunderbuss from once available Dixie Gunworks components with a brace of italian pirate pistols that needed retempering of the springs, dressed like a pirate and scared a new seaman apprentice half to death one rainy night.
James Bond should be critiqued on his weaponry as much as wardrobe. I had a Beretta .25 and a AR-7 and promptly sold both.
Perhaps my greatest coup was owning a Griffen & Howe .30-06 and Mannlicher 1903 duplicating Hemingway's african battery. But I'm a Stienbeck man, content to enjoy the California if not the same social hypocrisies today he wrote of. For those we need manhood, not parroted mannerisms of some romantic vision seen through rose coloured monocles.

Back to Ask Andy, despite its purulent new format:

My first question: do you work at a sandpaper factory, or do you have some kind of fighting claw growing out of your elbows?

Nothing makes a college student look better than a nice $400 leather briefcase. Consider pairing it with a bullwhip.

"How Do I Wear Shoes IV: Return to Delray Island." This guy doesn't know if he's a 9 or an 11.5 in the Park Avenue (the World's Most Boring Shoe). Forum bully Chatsworth Osborne gets a warning for asking how anyone could possibly be this helpless.

My instinct is always to make fun of Rob from Brooklyn but I have finally realized that it's coming from a place of envy. If he would stay away from the costumey double-breasted coats and the louder plaids he would actually be well-dressed. He also has certain personal style, which is more than you can say for the boring conservative clones of the rest of the "fora."

Ask Andy gets silly over flip-flops. iGents are quick to prove their impeccable taste by writing very clever posts saying things like "o no I would never ware flip-flops LOL!!!" Later in the thread an iGent recommends Birkenstocks, the only "footwear" in the universe uglier than the Allen-Edmonds Delray. I dated a girl who wore only Birkenstocks once and I kept trying to get her to throw them away; I realize now that I should simply have broken up with her.
"Trad" forum bonus:

The "trads" reveal that when they aren't playing Ivy League dressup they prefer the cool comfort of jeans shorts and athletic jerseys.

That's a fair comment about Brooklyn Rob. He should lose the iGent mega-cuffs, and maybe rein in his desire to wear jackets that have absolutely nothing to do with his trousers. I think if he scaled everything back juuuuuust a little he would look fine, in a younger, Brooklyn-y style. I like most of the individual pieces (except the silly double-breasted jackets), though I agree that they all look a little ill-fitting. I like the fact that there's a slight sense of joie de vivre (if not humor) in his outfits.

I say, chaps, what does one do about the fluids cascading from one's nasal passages?

Something no man should ever think about. Seriously. Hand your balls in to Ms. Fulbright, Skippy, and good luck.

I thought this might be AskAndy's sexual advice thread but I was wrong.
Another thing: when will Buffy be allowed back to StyleFart?
