Quoddy-Blucher Shoe

Just wondering what people think about this type of shoe as I thought they looked quite interesting in a modern classic Ivy League sort of vein ? :

Not sure if I'd wear them myself to be honest although they look nice enough and I can see them work within a certain image e.g.  BD shirt/chinos/khakis and that as well as with, say, a polo shirt and basic jeans....

Not really a fan, but I don't like the Bean Blucher Moc either. I prefer the Quoddy Canoe Moc. Mine wear like iron.

Re: Quoddy-Blucher Shoe

All I can say is that the photos of them taken by Quoddy look like shite.

Fairmount's Cordovan Loafers have the same problem.

And yet when you see other photos of Quoddys (It's Patrick's Blog again...) they look very well.

I'd go  LL Bean first I think for the money. After that I'd go Russell. Quoddy are between the two somewhere - closer to Russell than Bean, but Bean has a charm of it own which neither Russell or Quoddy have.

Maybe go barefoot?

wink

They look Ivy league. How do l know that? Because they have that funny looking feature thingee at the back of the shoe that Terry Lean, Jack and Russel Street always rave about.  wink

Not my thing though. They seem alittle cheap looking. l couldn't imagine them holding up to well.

Re: Quoddy-Blucher Shoe

I own the Quoddy Canoe Moc and the A/O Topsiders and I like them for different reasons which probably make no sense.

I'll explain...

I don't want nice boatshoes because I actually wear them on a boat, to the beach, in the rain, and so on. Sperry uses cheap leather and that's
cool with me. Beat them to hell and they just look better.
My Quoddy Moc's have much, much nicer leather and are at least as well constructed. The pictures on their website, much like their customer service, are crappy. They're not as great as all the the AAAT/SF Streetwear hype, but I do think they're a great option.

RS is on it, though. They're better than Bean but below Russell.

Unfortunately the Russell website has been down for a few days.  I think they forgot to renew their domain name.

Re: Quoddy-Blucher Shoe

Quoddy was a real hype fest with the Traddies. A little perspective to pull them back from all that is a good thing.

They also have my blessing to question all the other Traddie hyped up brands too.  A little thought is good for you!

Re: Quoddy-Blucher Shoe

I grew up wearing Sperry and Russell, now I wear Mephisto. There may well be a better boat shoe but I've yet to find them.
