Nautical cap

Britain is a maritime nation, but I do not live by the sea.

I popped into my local caff today and a regular was sat there wearing a nautical cap, as he always does. Tweed jacket and shopping trolley complete the picture. Reading the papers and whiling away the time. His 'wife' is always elaborately coiffed and overdressed for the shops - long coats, lots of make up etc. Anyway, I actually listened to her talk today. I am now not sure if she is a 'she', or how long she has been a 'she'. I am not in a bohemian area either. Anyone know the deal with yachting caps ?

In Kingston there is a black guy who wears a full tail coat with red crocs on his feet. He is not the full shilling; but interesting get up all the same. He is well known in the department stores.

Surbiton's best effort is a retired bloke with a gammy leg who is always suited and booted and seems to have a coffee in every coffee shop in the High Street. Healthier than a pub crawl and it keeps him off the booze too.

Kingstonian, from all your observations of the people around you, maybe you should strike out with a novel or a local history book or something. By the way, do you know Jackie Wilson?

I don't know Jackie Wilson, or even Jocky Wilson. Shame what happened to him though.

Re: Nautical cap

That's O.K. I was having lunch on the beach with a friend from my church. Somebody walked up, and said 'You're wearing a greek fisherman's hat!' Vasilios replied " I AM a greek fisherman.
