Nobody expects the sartorial inquisition...

... but perhaps Darren Beaman begs to differ:

In my opinion this has gotten obsessive and even creepy.

It's fun to see manton's grasp of English fail him when he gets angry, even after editing his posts.

No axe to grind, no point to prove...

This is just the house style over there.
If you log on then this is what you're after.
I find it funny & I love the circus atmosphere that they offer...

And the joke is that none of the clowns in the circus realise that they are clowns. Nor do they realise that they are even in a circus.

I used to see them as white mice in a laboratory but now I've mellowed with age & experience...

They're a sartorial side-show, a muddle of a menagrie. Whatever you like. Fantastic stuff anyway.

So, so post post-modern. I'm a fan.

Look at my restraint!

I've given names to all the chorus line but I'm not posting them.

I really feel tonight as though I've finally left trolling behind me...

Re: Nobody expects the sartorial inquisition...

Is there someting I'm missing about AAAC?

I'm trying to get into posting more on this site but I'm having problems...there is a constant obsession with demeaning manton and AAAC.  As a newcomer looking from the outside in it looks like a classic case of jealousy.

Did something go down at AAAC that I'm not aware of?  Did manton steal somebody's cookies?

Re: Nobody expects the sartorial inquisition...

This is my first post here, but I've been reading the forum for quite a while.

I agree with Chris -- I find the repeated comments and antipathy for Manton and AAAC to be childish and tiresome. Certainly, there is alot of great content on this site, but (IMHO) it is demeaned it by this behavior -- and yes, I have observed (for the past 3+ years) the goings on at AAAC, so I think I know most of the history behind the antipathy.

I also find it amusing that many of you comment favorably on Marc's doing a service to others by warning about his experiences with some vendors, yet you criticize the efforts of others to help prevent a possible fraud and rip-off.

Further, Marc (if you read this), why have I not seen a comment from you concerning Darren, despite your experience with him?  FWIW, Marc recommended Darren to me (several years ago, and early in his dealings with Darren), and Darren himself told me Marc had ordered 10 suits from him, some of which I saw in process.  I gather this order was ultimately not filled (though I could be mistaken).  So, if Marc is such a defender of the naive and the innocent, why not be upfront about Darren?

Finally, if you felt you had been ripped off to the tune of several thousand dollars and had been strung along and repeatedly lied to, would you not feel some anger and, perhaps, vindictiveness, never mind a desire to help others avoid your fate?

Re: Nobody expects the sartorial inquisition...

Dear Chris & Interested Observer,

I can imagine I know what you're thinking...
... But this is the internet. This is what the internet is like. This is the medium you're working with.
There is no point in having a problem with it.

Jealousy is too simple an explanation for anything on the net.
And being childish starts the minute you log onto any forum.

Manton sets himself up, so people are going to have fun with that.
AAAC takes itself very seriously, again people are going to have fun with that.

You can kick around ideas on the net but that's about all.
The net is great fun but if you really want to learn anything - learn by experience.
And if you want to meet like-minded people - then go outside and meet them.

All there is on your computer screen is entertainment. If you don't happen to enjoy what you see then move on or turn the computer off.

The standards of real life have never had much to do with 'life' in cyberspace.

Stay around & have fun. But when it's not fun for you any more, go do something else maybe.

The great thing about this site is that you can enjoy yourself. No point being here if you're not having fun. IMVHO.

Re: Nobody expects the sartorial inquisition...

Marc:

Thank you for your reply.  I do not recall the posts you cite, and I am not certain I ever saw them.  I find the whole DB situation to be very sad, both for Darren (whom I found to be a reasonably charming fellow) and for the people who have paid him money and failed to get their promised garments.

Please note that I do not blame you or in any way consider you responsible or culpable in the DB saga, and I can understand your sentiments regarding AAAC.  I have just been puzzled by what I've observed as your silence regarding DB here on FNB, and how that has been in contrast to your vehemence about AK, Leonard Logsdail, and many others, on AAAC.

Re: Nobody expects the sartorial inquisition...

Caught with his flea market-bought pants down, the proprietor of AAAC boasting about all of the business his fora had generated for DB, and of his suit in-the-making from DB, ***made in exchange for that business***.  Hmmmmmmm.  How did that suit ever turn out?  Just wondering.
