I had noticed the Scene website - is it my imagination or do they add some extra stuff too?
weeji was reading somewhere in the forum that you came up with the idea of making the originals playboys by hutton did that bear any fruit? and if so im interested in obtaining a few pairs
It's not over, BIBI, but it's bubbling away in the background.
1966's Eaton Clubmans featured earlier in the thread have been given to a factory to dissect and see if they can make some samples. Because of so much hand work in the shoes there is a balance between quality and cost, so we'll see whether it's possible.
I'm quietly confident, although if you check the photos from earlier in the thread of the Japanese colours of Sanders PBs you'll see that even they have some problems with overglueing the foxing and getting it on the suede.
weeji thats kool,if it comes thru keep me posted,im interestd in getting a couple of pairs.
question: in 1997 churchs in new york on 49th and madison came out with a line of playboys boots and low cuts in all colors in suede. they were a good quality shoe. they sold for 180.00 bucks back then. i bought a pair of black suede and still wear them. does anybody know about these playboys and who made them.

I see that British Walker Playboys are now available through their site britishwalkershoe.com - I ordered the beige pair, will see how they are.....
It's a shame the leather edging on the Brown version are contrasted. Should've kept them the same color imo.

the britishwalkers playboys lots of colors, the tops are higher than the sanders, the cutback on the side are sharpe and comes to a point like the GBX waiting to hear some feedback from fred.
is that royal "rust" similar to the sanders "snuff"? not sure from looking at the pictures...
at least the contrast welt seems better than with the dk browns cause it's similar to the color of the sole...
Colour wise it looks similar but "stead snuff" is a very specific English tanned suede.
I wish I knew you dudes were interested in Original Britishers Playboys I'da told you to call Mikes he has them for $50(maybe $40) they have organic crepe soles. The site you are talkin about is new to me and believe me Imma British Walker fiend the owner of the name ""Original Britishers" a.k.a British Walkers is Samsung America and their website doesn't have them anymore since in 2007 they disc'd the shoe and the Playboys. These cats are retailers that have access to the shoe judging by the colors of the British Walkers their source isnt Mike but maybe the former site oldschoolbritishwalkers.com or 4evastyles.com. A close friend whom I mentioned when I first came on has about 5 pair of Davanzatis and Britishers Playboys, he likes them but he's more fond of the George Cox and the Sanders. I 'll ask him to visit and tell you guys the difference in the feel of the three, but again def don't order from the Britisherwalkershoesite bcuz you will pay double and then some. The only problem you may run into is does Mike have your size in a given color. The Playboys were retailing for $180-$200 bcuz of the organic crepe(so I was told) but I must say they made a good shoe the suede is nice and I believe the inside is calf skin at least cowhide in both the British Walker and the Playboys they made. So once again Mikes number is 212-921-8218 he'll let you know what the deal is brothers, call him before you pay double.
will check out mikes and see what he got.im from new york and im still here.checked out citi shoes and got a pair of sanders from them.nice and comfortable.been buying playboys since 1967 when the original hutton playboys were in town.they cost 22.50 back then.I used to buy them at leftcourts on madison ave. midtown.had to work at the carwash in the bronx on the weekends to buy them. the good old days, when the playboys were for real. those days are gone

Thanks or the heads up mookey. Fred is on the west coast so he can probably return them if he needs to.
Interesting that they have plantation crepe soles.

Good info Mookey, gotta have that real crepe.
BIBI - you and these shoes go way back eh? Fascinating, I'd love to hear you reminiscing some more. Have you always been hunting for these Playboys?
BIBI if you're asking me about Playboys the answer is no.I was turned on to Playboys by my friends that told me I needed to forget about the British Walkers since they were not making original styles anymore and we were not feelin the ones like those on the britishwalkershoesite(the suede tieups are O.K.),My friends told me they were gonna make a PB man outta me and they did, not before I traded my man a pair of new deadstock Davanzati Playboys for a pair of new deadstock 80s British Walkers. Davanzatis were on ebay this time last year for over a month and I didnt know the rarity of them so I thought, 'I'll get another pair one day' only to find this site and realize the value of them. I found this site checkin out the pics of Steve Mac and was so happy to find so many Playboy heads with a wealth of knowledge about the shoe sharing info like we once did on the British Walker page of inthe80s/com and if you really wanna know the truth when I found the value of the Davs(a month ago on here) I emailed the Chinese dude and I said 'hey buddy I'll take a couple pair of those Davanzatis in an Eleven' he said 'O.K. I'll let you know I usually get em every ten years or so you'll be the first'! I felt like a fool lol. Hard Bop the Rust is more of a Orangey Yellow, the color for each shoe/boot is dead on they have a very good camera. 66 I told you I would post pics of the Original British Walkers but have yet to figure how to upload pics to the site. Later Brothers...
my man mookey:thanks for the heads up on thoses britishwalkers playboys.to me they look like the GBX playboys with a little upgrade.I like you did not know that there was some kool cats still out there looking for the real original playboys until i stumble on this forum. A wealth of information you guys have and share on the topic of the playboys. 66 yeah i was hunting for them off and on thru the years. one of the fruits of having the real playboys was the girls you meet. In new york the girls use to look for the kool cats wearing the playboys, and they knew if they were real playboys or not. we use to wear them with the alpaca sweaters that were made in austria and in Italy solid color base with multiy color design on the front and of course the full button down front and the collar that look like the old shool Italian knits.OOH THE GOOD OLD DAYS THOSE DAYS ARE GONE.
Yeah BI,those were the good ole days indeed Alpacas Blythe shirts shark skins pants etc. Im 45 my uncles used to wear playboys even the winged tip joints I copied from them but when my turn came British Walkers were hot they were a step up from the Beige Clark type mocs everybody used to wear in the 70s, in B-More we called em Easy Walkers. British Walkers, you had to have em not the Tom Mchanns(remember them) or you were a square. The thing I realized in the last year as I dug for Puma Clydes Sheepskin coats Members Only Leathers,Mock necks and even Cortifiels is... its all about the nostalgia man the gear was fresh and hip and made to last but its 'the good ole days' being an 18 year old or even a twenty something year old dude was sure fun man I tell you and every once in a while we wanna step back if just for a moment. By the way I love those as we call em, Barber shirts or Italian gangster shirts. Peace,Brothers
