Re: Martin Stone shoes Edgware Road closing ?

The answer is 'Yes'. I went there this morning. A big banner is up 'Closing Down Sale'. It goes in four weeks time.

Still have some great bargains. Crocketts are available for a fraction of the Pediware price as they always were. Plenty of Cheaney, Sebago etc. They do their own small runs on English shoes customised to their specs.

A proper independent shop and they really knew their stock. A crying shame it is going. I think the landlord is building a house at the back and shop size is being restricted and there will be underground rooms added. Hassle.

Thanks to the quiet but knowledgeable  poster who put me on to this shop. Shame I had not been going there longer.

I got a pair of Cheaneys that are like John Lobb Vales - monkstrap but strap goes towards the back of the shoe rather than straight over the top - £125.

Excess stock will go to John Rushton. I was given a card for him. If you want new C&Js you can order them from Martin-Stone and collect them from John Rushton - if they cannot deliver before closure. C&J knew about heavy discounts but let it go until they opened their own shops and the internet side of sales picked up.

Martin-Stone is on the other side of the road from the Tube stations but well up the road past the cop shop. You think you have come to the end of the shops but there is another little parade. I would say they were better than John Rushton but the premises are not as big.
