Got some visitors over, so i'm about to pour a nice cup of tea (a cuppa). l'm really fussy how l make my tea, everything is down to an artform.
Les Teurons 2003. Quite excellent.
And Castel 2004 - hotter with massive cedar nose. Great with beef.
^ A bit early in the day Mr. Silk if you are on UK time.
I was predicting the future a little. It's true as of now.
Bloody Mary made with Svedka and Zing Zang.

Sauvignon blanc.
Australian Shiraz, not very good and why can’t they call it Syrah? Perhaps because the French do it better?
Now yesterday it was a 1988 Pomerol and it was very, very good, pity it was the last bottle in the cellar.
That's the problem with wines these days, it all seems to hit and miss. Too much sulphate fuelled crap out there. You need to really know what you are buying.
Unlike whisky; if its single malt, triple distilled you will need to drink a fair amount before you feel hungover the next day. I can drink a bottle of wine and have a major hangover most of the day.
Gentlemen you are referring to sulphites, not sulphides or sulphates. They are different things.

Exempt "proper" cider from that rule of thumb!
Don't get me wrong, I like it and my mother’s family grew cider apples commercially up until the 70’s but it can give you the mother of all hangovers (and it can have a lot of tannin – you just don’t notice it).
Also AIUI tannins are there in the raw material; in the case of wine its largely in the grape skin ad stalks which is why white wine, even made from red grapes as in some Champaign, has less tannin – the skins being removed earlier in the process than for reds.
Bombay with vermouth. No lemon in the house, market closed, so I'm drinking it starkers. A little shocking at first but nothing I can't overcome.
I was in the wrong place at the right time today. A nieghbor died in my complex recently. His mormon convert daughter showed up today with a moving van and several kid. They made a human ant parade as the usual debitage of a life went into the van or nearby dumpster.
They took a lunch break and I slipped down to dump my trash. The dumpster emptied this morning is overflowing. It will be a filthy mess as my other nieghbors lazily toss trash on the ground instead of walking 30' to the other unit.
There was a box on the ground. I gave it a foot tap and heard glass, saw a vaguely familiar logo of a stag. I am in possession of 6 unopened Glennfidditch 12 year old bottles. Everyone's invited!

Does triple distilled whisky taste of anything?

Another good thing to do the day after heavy drinking is to have a big bunch of weeds handy ready for juicing...a good liver cleanser and great nourishment provider for torn old bodies. Try to find dandelion weeds and their yellow flowers, these:

The juice will be dark green to black and taste like panadol tablets, but it is a great tonic that is well worth while.

Well after last nights disappointment I decided to continue a clear out of some wines that are well past their recommended drink by dates and for reasons that are not relevant here to really push the boat out.
So I just opened a bottle of Domain du Vieux Telegraphe, Ch Neuf Du Pape 1990 that’s been in the cellar for 18 years. It is stupendous, brick red, soft, a good nose and with tremendous length - I just had a taster when I opened it and > 15 minutes later I can still taste it. And the really good news is I still have two bottles left! If only all wines were as good as this.
This evening will pass very nicely, and I won't have a hang over in the morning .
