Lee Konitz! His "Motion" LP is probably my favourite discovery of 2009. When I say discovery, I mean a friend's recommendation ;-)
It's well worth trying to have a listen to the live 1954 recording of the Konitz Quartet at George Wein's Storyville Club in Boston's Copley Square Hotel.
