Re: The should we boycott Israel thread

This is it: you divide people, according to country and religion and judge them according to awards and (let's face it: filthy cash). The Man of The World should be above contemplation of these divisions. So far as inventions are concerned, if it weren't for Arabic numerals, we be in an even finer economic mess than we are now, Stanley: how would Roman numerals look when totting up the bankruptcies of all the western banks or the consequential bankrutcies of the governments (all of them) that have, fatally, shored them up? Moreover (and more importantly, for those of us concerned more with the turf than withn space shuttles to impossible places), the world's equine bloodstock derives from 3 Arabian sires. Not sure on your assertions about manufacture either: oil is manufactured, is it not?

Nobel Prizes are for Nordic types. Blond hair? You're in with a chance. Black hair - then, generally, "Bugger off".

Of 13 million Jews, several million of their ancestors seem to have walked, without manly (or any), resistance to their deaths. It isn't much spoken of but, once you get past the disgust of watching the Nazis mowing down your folks in their droves (speaking purely personally) one does rather wonder why the guys didn't get together and sacrifice themselves for the sake of overwhwlming the Nazi beasts by sheer force of weight. You know (or do you): If I'm going to die, let me die trying to overcome (and trust in that one God which favours me, for later on). Those men (not the women and the children but the men), seen in the film clips that you love to play to shame the world, just stepping passively into their graves revolt me a shade less than the bastards who shot them.

But you missed my most important point - 'bout me demned fine hat!
RR
PS I let the rest (Loserville etc and your other redneck talk) - well - rest - because you are out of control. Set the old kipper aside, sit down with some congenial Mussies with some decent mint tea, and talk it through. Divide up, between yourselves, your desert spaces logically - and let the rest of the world (poor old Lebanon for one), get some decent kip.
TTFN.
RR.

I am not dishonouring anyone. I am just giving you my view. It may not be a popular view. It might upset some people but that doen't make it less valid. The same feeling goes for passengers on hijacked 'planes - 9/11 and so forth: don't just sit there and make some pitiable last phone calls: fight! Of course, one 'plane-load did eventually try - but too late - if they had acted sooner, then most of them would, almost certainly, have been saved and a handful might have died as heroes and the bombers' hands been stilled.

I just can't understand why there are so few Violette Szabos in this world and by God is the world fortunate that there was a Winston Churchill as my grandparents did sleep with guns by the bed and said that they'd have taken out as many Nazis as possible before going down.

Why are most people normally cowards? I guess that the Victoria Crosses and Purple Hearts would be worth less if we were all heroes but I just do not understand why people on the brink of being murdered didn't at least try to, make a stand. This does not dishonour them or their memory or seek to validate their murders or approve the regime that murdered them. You have noted the phenomenon in your own post.

Re: The should we boycott Israel thread

I missed to mention my own experience of 'terrorism' on a very small scale and I guess that (despite 'Watching Reggie') I am sufficiently anonymous here to say it without being said to be bragging: several times I have intervened when others were being picked on; two examples that I can recall clearly: once on the top deck of a bus, two girls were being annoyed by a group of youths who then started to touch them and a friend and I stepped in and there was a uncomfortable stand-off until they got off the bus and the other time was when I saw a very tall man being heckled and pushed by a group of youths outside an off licence. He could probably have picked them up one at a time and squashed them in one hand but he was just standing there acquiescing. So I went over and shouted and swore at them, knowing that I couldn't really back it up but they seemed to be very surprised and then they came to their senses and buggered off, leaving me (and Mr Lanky) much relieved. But I'd have felt less of myself for having just walked by. The thing is to react immediately and decisively. When Captain Hans Langsdorf was asked about his failure to subdue the three battle cruisers that tackled the Graf Spee he just said that he hadn't thought that they'd dare attack.

And I don't object to Grayson's boast that the Jews are superior - simply because if more people felt that they were superior, there would be much better behaviour in the world!

Re: The should we boycott Israel thread

There are several examples of Jewish uprisings during WWII. The Warsaw ghetto uprising is one such case.

To equate intervening between two kids bullying another on a bus and being frogmarched onto awaiting Extermination camp bound freight train by machine gun toting SS-guards is stupid beyond belief, so stupid in fact, that it could only be offered up by a troll at play.

Well, looking at such pictures, ought to make you want to cry and I see no humour here, Formby; you're just as myopic as Grayson.
