I hear the guvnor changed and he is less of a people person. North of the town and a bit too far for me to visit often; but a good little pub nonetheless.

I picked up a pair of rubber-soled black jodphur boots at Lidl a while back that I used for the muddy walk to work. Always worth a look.
Aldi used to be good for two packs of mercerised cotton socks (for about the price of a half-pound of butter), but they seem to have discontinued them now. A couple of years back they would occasionally have 'Royal Class' Goodyear-welted shoes on offer too, which were a great buy.
