Has anyone commissioned a pair of their shoes bespoke? If so, anyone have thoughts on how they compare with Cleverly or Paul Davies?
Great essay and shoes.
FNB can be the best shod guy twice and not only once every week if he gets the round toe version of the black oxfords

I have Gaziano and Davies bespoke, not Cleverly, though, I have experience with the latter. Gaziano and Davies worked for Cleverly before going out on their own, which speaks well of Cleverly. If you're anabsolute perfectionisnt, I'd go with Cleverly, though, Tony and Paul strive to be perfectionists and Tony and Paul provide more personal attention.
Davies' shoes are the lightest. Very nice.
Difference in designs is subjective.
I think Perry Ercolino is a better shoemaker in terms of fit.

I found Tony's comments about shell cordovan, so revered among the iGentry, particularly informative and amusing, especially his remark that it looked "plasticky." Usually, anybody with the temerity to make that observation in the "fora" will be met with a torrent of indignation, the gist of which being that a detractor of shell cordovan doesn't know what he's talking about.
I thought it was an excellent discussion by Tony G.
FNB has not published in a while and I hope this will be the start of several new articles.
Love that first set of brown shoes.

Nice to see a new FNB essay.
Wow, those captoes have no blemishes whatsoever. Are they bespoke?
It's nice to see him celebrate the work of Dimitri Gomez, as I have a pair of his, semi-custom (what he calls "ligne bottier").
