My first reaction without seeing a larger swatch or a jacket made up is that it is too dull. Needs like a widely spaced wine windowpane.
What sort of wool is it?
It's a Barbera jacket, 95% wool, 5% alpaca. I absolutely see what you're saying about the window pane. My thought was that without a windowpane, one has more flexibility in ties/shirts--if you're me at least you usually key one or the other (occasionally both) to the windowpane. I just counted eight jackets in the closet with windowpanes. I suppose that's handy should I decide to defenestrate myself.
It's hard to tell the color - is it just a bad photo? If the main colors are, say, red and green mixed in with cream/tan/yellow, I'd go for it. I agree with FNB, if we're just going on the photo posted the colors look pretty dull.
Bosthist, can you let us have a better photo of the cloth?
FNB: This one is a really hard one to photograph, but thanks guys. The colors are fairly accurate, except the jacket has a little more green/gold to it as the tertiary color than is apparent. I'll tell my wife she was correct. Wait until she sees Plan B.
