Re: Dandyism.net

I too enjoyed the book. Or should I say books.

Would it be possible that I'm the only individual in the whole world that has two copies? If so do I get some sort of prize or something?

(I won't mention that I accidentally got two either from an internet glitch or by me ordering it twice after being slipped a mickey finn on one of my attendances at the local chapter of the Drink in Moderation 13 steps Program Glee Night, Bingo and Line Dancing gathering)

I have yet to compare the two copies for typos and consistency - any other activities with the two books you recommended?

That Sebastian Horsley piece wasn't bad. Some o the other articles are boring as all get out. A forum you need to register for to even see is counter intuitive.

Re: Dandyism.net

I really don't rate The Rake.

There are levels to all of this...

Chenners is known to be flat broke.

No shame in that.

Re: Dandyism.net

Granted, he's a striver.     Strive, strive, strive.

The Rake must have a niche. All I mean to say is that it's not for me. But who am I anyway?

Chistian the Dandy was FAR better than Christian the Ivy fan...

But only Christian knows who the real Christian is. Thus far I only see multiple experiments... And now he's sadly on the wrong side of 40 to be viwed as on the way up...   He's not young. Not anymore.

The best he has now is to be'a 'late bloomer'. But even that is a highly compromised thing to be...

Mr. John Gall was in FHM (a magazine) in London in his twenties as an acredited Ivy League Expert dressed in Brooks, Buffalo Creek & Haspel Seersucker.

Christian the Ivy fan starts in the late Summer of '08 when a highly manipulative Internet Troll (Me!) got to work on him...

And at 19 I was sleeping on floors with my Brooks Blazer from the 346 hung ever so carefully on a nearby chair up in Highgate, North London.

I'd like the real Christian M. Chensvold to stand up...

Who the hell is he?

Re: Dandyism.net

Well, they do say genius flowers late.

But of course, we're talking about that 'real go getter' the man to bone idle/proud to get job: Chinny-Chenners.

He's not a freelance writer, along with his mucca Mr Mattis, he can only manage to string 500 words together on any subject. Destined to forever compose editorial highlights for grannies with blue rinses. Shame Readers Digest is not what it use to be.  A writer?  No, that brings a passive idleness to the profession, where only there is hard graft, booze and madness.

My old mucca, Ace Face tells me that Wellesradio was a decent chap, as to was Literary Syphillis and that David Sylvian look alike Fortinbras. So don't know what happened to twist them out of shape?  Then there was the mad Vietnam veteran and New England lawyer, who was actually too young to serve and yet, despite being a sociopath and narcistic nutter was still allowed to practice law in the dependency of Costa Rica so long as he kept on taking those little blue pills and electric shock treatment. There was some good fun instigated by NJS in exposing him.

There was also a strange fetishist on Dandyism into ironing men's shirts, the smell, the aroma of men, don't 'cha know? That's when the Ace Face left and took up alchemy and building his time machine. He's been in his garage for quite some time now, the Johnnie Walker Red and Marlborough fags keep on getting delivered and his missus, she thinks he's building a kit car Morgan.

Yes, Ace Face never sold it to me.

Re: Dandyism.net

The Ace Face was never a lawyer, although his nickname at school was Atticus Finch, suffered from stigmata and hung around and snorted coke with the jailers at the Hague International Court of International Bullshit and Genocide. He proudly displays the wine list to his guests, sad in the knowledge that African dictators and Serbian killers drink better wine and champagne than the Lidl shit he serves to his guests. He is the man Thomas, as his scars on his palms attest. Quasi-fascist, or the spiritual truth? I guess we will never know, as far as I know he spends much of his time tendering his apple trees and raising his two little bambinos.

His stigmata cleared up after he started listening to the Georgia Sea Island singers and got back in touch with the Lord through Alan Lomax and the music of the Sons of Pioneers.

So, who the dandy devil is Bourdillon, we know you've been homeless and are quite gullible, that's all. Pray, tell us your story....

Re: Dandyism.net

if no more than half of what you people are talking about is true then Dandyism.net must be even more childish than StyleForum, presumably because the stakes are so tiny, eh?

Re: Dandyism.net

Ace Face's fascism would be tolerable were it not for his dire stupidity and monotonous apoplexy.
