In honour of Bobby Hebb:
Love, love, love. 'Sunny' never did anything for me, but this is a great track:

What do we all think of vocalised versions of tried and tested favourites?
Here is 'Take Five' , Brubeck featuring Carmen McRae, which I'm liking. : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O4N-LGVGtks
I heard 'Night in Tunisia' the other night on the radio as performed by Eddie Jefferson , which also is a nice take. This version is a bit more 'allegro' than the studio version. : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qecYJe01r3w
He replicates the solos, musically, with his words too-clever stuff.
Just interested in any opinions??
Personally I like that vers of take 5. I allso dig vocalised vers of a lot classic tunes,
we wouldnt have the great vers of work song if it not for oscar brown jr writing lyrics to it, not that nats orig is not superb.
Back to mark murphy, his vocal vers of milestones on rah is killer. A lot of people hate it though.

^I love all of the above. Here's another version of Night in Tunisia from Snowboy back in the 80's:

Oh I'm feeling that! Horace is the man.
'Song For My Father' sums up much of what I feel about jazz. I just feel good whenever I hear it.
I love that tune. Very cool.
Anybody like Sonny Rollins? Here's St Thomas.

Have a listen for some sublime double tonguing from the man in the heads.
Brilliant.
Horace is indeed the Man! Tokyo Blues is probably one of the greatest albums released on Blue Note.
