Lands End have a nice looking chambray shirt - £30 I think.
I was well on my way to purchasing said shirt, when I saw a comment over on MC Forums, which raised the issue of BD collars on more casual shirts.
The poster said they preferred BD collars on smarter shirts.
I need to be swayed, one way or the other.
Opinions?
both...
It depends how you want to wear it:
If you like it with a Tweed sack and a knit tie, go for a BD, and if you just want to wear it like Steve McQueen did, just go for a plain point...
I think it depends on the collar itself. How is the roll etc.
And as allways, go with what you like. what feels right, what would you wear.
Or you could spend your money on this

I say button it down, if it's a long sleeved shirt you'd ever be wearing without a jacket.
Didn't LE have a nice chalk-white chambray BD this year too?
the Chambray on the LE site looks a bit too much like a faded denim shirt to me, could just be the photos though...?
Both!
Check out LL Bean & don't be shy of giving them a quick dip in bleach when you get them home just to get the shade you really want...
Chet wore Chambray shirts from The Andover Shop.
Just not my cuppa tea Andy. I get paid to argue so prefer not do it for free. Plenty of good stuff there too though.
As for the shirt - walking in the Peak with the family (occassionally).
Work (more often than not).
Work is a fairly casual affair - no prescribed limitations as to what I can/can't wear, but casual is better.
There are few/no lines drawn in my wardrobe between workwear and weekend wear.
You get paid to argue?
All right, not a BD then.
Chambray is only a nice little step up from denim. I'd never wear a denim shirt with a button-down collar.
On second thoughts, 'The Sussed, the Bad, and the Ugly'.
Works better.
On multiple levels.

I think a chambray shirt is more "proper" with a plain collar. and I'm not keen on chambrays worn with coats (tweed, wool etc)....for me a chambray needs to be worn with a more casual jacket. The only lapel'd coat I'd like it with is a peacoat.
