I would like to buy a hat, with a large feather, but I do not wear a pocket napkin to coordinate it to.
In this circumstance, should I match it to my tie, or socks?
I think socks will be ideal.
The ideal feather in your hat is metaphorical.
Do you wear a tweed trilby, perhaps.
Perhaps the velvet hat, with a couple of tweed items?
But definitely don't coordinate the feather with your napkin; that would be too studied.
As long as the hat is in green color and the feather in white, u should be ok. Just my 6 cents.
Was that hat you're talking about Brother V, made from velvet, or was it the more sedate loden style "Austrian" hat that was offered by Brooks and others way back?
The latter I like and think you can still get away with. The former is better for the pimp activity.
In the case of the feather, I saw let it be freewheeling, like the grosgrain watchband. Rule of thumb: on to too much match, the bourgeoise do latch.
I do not think you need to coordinate the feather with anything but your person taste. In fact most people reject the idea of a feather in the hat anymore. Its nearly a thing of the past but we have a few customers still insisting on a feather.
