Hello everyone in forum land. I certainly hope the holidays are treating everyone well.
I had a question for everyone about a dark gray suit I might buy. It has a white chalkstripe which is faint and an apple green chalkstripe in between; or every other stripe. The green stripe is even paler and from a distance you cannot see it and the suit looks like one with a white stripe farther spaced than is average.
My question is if that is
A. a good purchase or is it not acceptable?
and
B. If I do go ahead and spring for it do I need to match something to the green stripe or can I ignore it? I am not sure I want to feel like a green tie or shirt needs to go with it.
Thanks for any ideas.

It seems to me that it would be hard to "match" or even complement anything like this green stripe without appearing contrived. But, I pretty much lack the imagination to pull it off. Can it be done? The whole color thing always throws me for a loop. I used to match, sometimes, a sock with a tie. For instance, burguny tie and burgundy socks with blue suit and white or blue shirt. Or blue/white stripe pencil or bengal striped shirt.
Now, I rather than "match" anything, I like one thing that sometimes "doesn't go" with anything, but isn't necessarily too obtrusive. For instance, I just went black tie and wore black DJ (naturally), white shirt, black tie, black shoes, and burgundy socks. I got the idea from one of those Apparel Arts plates. I think they were pantherella socks that I wore. Ribbed. But I bet it would've looked nicer in a wool/silk blend, in a plain weave.
In the end I did not buy the suit because it did not fit well enough. I have an idea in my mind for a suit with a green and a white stripe in it and I might look for something MTM or bespoke.
Thank you for your help.

I've never liked coloured pinstripes much, with the exception of a light petrol-blue on navy, as I feel they tend to limit what the suit can be worn with too severely. It would also, I fear, make me self-conscious about wearing it too often. I place outlandish or very colourful shoes in the same niche. Shirts and ties are to be experimented with, as they needn't come out more than once or twice a month.
On the other hand, if one had enough suits that this could be the case...
