gotta check your OP... this thread is so long I forgot what it was all about.... I have this tendency of digressing sometimes, I apologize...
I'm not the world's biggest Paul Newman fan. Might as well stick Brando in there. I've seen him looking trim. Newman and McQueen are just very obvious choices. How about Tab Hunter? George Peppard? Rock Hudson? All highly subjective.
Yes, it is subjective...
My subjective view is that both Steve and Paul were cooler than say Rock Hudson or Tab Hunter... Nevertheless, I know a lot of pictures of a very smart looking Rock Hudson, and I think there a very cool Tab Hunter pic on the old JS page...
It's this very coolness that I find so uncool.
Shows my relative lack of interest in what 'online' has to offer.
... I am quite serious about this. England made it all happen, for good or ill. Nobody else had the vision, the organisation, or the bloody cheek to pull off what me, Jim, Pad & Grey have online (with help from others as time rolled on).
We pulled in the punters & got the discussion going. We steered it & made sure it grew.
Enslaving Harris & Chensvold was easy. The genius trick was to enslave a whole mindset & put it to work. ACL uses the word 'Trad'? ACL is our muppet! And on it goes.
A game. A joke. And from it we pick the diamonds out from the rest of the midden to enjoy.
Jim and Pad? No idea they were involved.
It never fails to amuse me, of course, that the real 'faces' either don't own computers in the first place, allow others to run their Facebook shit for them, or never venture further into this dark realm than maybe booking a Spanish holiday.
You won't get Strachan on here.
(He's doing good, btw.)
Good to hear about Strachan's recovery.

And to say it once more - Before the rag-tag 'Russell Street' crew got to work there was John Gall & Mark Collins.
England's Glory!
Just to return to the original theme - 'potency' - I say again, The Ivy Look is a little gem of academic inspiration. I take a look inside my wardrobe and think to myself, yes, if I team that with that... The colour shot of JFK is a stand-out: dark socks with what could be Jack Purcell. I'm no admirer of the guy but, sartorially, when did he ever put a foot wrong? 'Esquire' evidently approved of his more 'presidential' look: the suits, the shirts, the ties, the hats. Studies of the brothers at play are often absorbing. I do like that 'un of Bobby playing handball or whatever it is.
The more I contemplate this...
The Book is somehow 'Beyond Ivy' at the same time as being a Boom Years spectacular...
Clever. Very clever. I'd like to know exactly who's buying it and for what reason/s.
It seems to dovetail neatly with some of what gets discussed on 'Talk Ivy'.
Broader than you might at first think.
You could almost hear Tony sighing and John gnashing his teeth.
^ Other the other way around.
