I am still not clear whether FNB did ban me over my remarks on The Dook.

J, LA Guy and the other mods at SF are rightfully proud of their creation. They have molded SF in their own image, that of a tyrannical brat. SF is now the  the premier forum for those who know nothing about clothes to receive make believe facts from the senior membership.


Vox, Mantoni and Foofer all hate themselves (this is apparent by their clothes) and take it out on the world. The one thing they can never forgive is another member that knows more than they do, which is why so many get banned.

Also, those of us born after WWII do not fully appreciate the magnificent rising to the occasion of George VI, not just as monarch, but as monarch of a soon-to-be beseiged nation. Shy, stuttering, reserved, always in his brother's shadow, he did not slip away to Canada but stayed and saw it through, winning the love and gratitude of the nation. A quieter dresser but still a fine one. Moreover, he was effectual: he stopped Churchill taking the risk of going to the front line by insisting that, if Churchill went, he would go too.

It is certainly arguable that Brummell has a greater claim to remembrance than The Dook because Brummell's foibles and sayings, his audacity and his bloody cheek, still appeal to us. The Dook gets some American vote because he nearly made a Southern Belle (ahem!) Queen but, by all accounts, he was a dull fellow.
