Re: Banned from Style Forum

C&T is a notable exception to the sites with an absence of new material and, even though it is largely a technical forum, there is often something of interest.

Re: Banned from Style Forum

It's actually no coincidence that you will find a lot of classic British fashion plates and photos on my forum, as I think it is a severely neglected area. My collection continues to grow. I find it one of the great ironies that one so-called "London" Lounge is brimming with American fashion plates. In fact, British fashion illustrations of the early decades of the 20th century were often finer than the American ones, and the tradition of printing fashion plates to sell to bespoke tailors (so that clients could choose the latest fashions from them) continued in London until the early 1970s. The 1960s-70s plates are not as elegant as the 1930s ones, but they have a mod kind of coolness to them that captures the spirit of their age nicely.
