Just to reduce the temperature a little, I'm wondering whether the book has reached Japan yet and how well it is doing there.
Yes. JG is keen, I think, on it going over well there. It might, hopefully, prepare the way for a bigger format offering similiar to those GM has done on album covers and movie posters.
I think it's the sort of book that would do well in Japan - being image heavy with minimal text (as it should be) - have they contacted the Van Jacket Co. to see if they want to stock it? Mind you - I've tried contacting them and heard nothing - and I was trying to buy, not sell..............
Funny that. You'd think they'd be keen to flog you something. Mind you, look at some of the American Ebayers.
they do tend to be inscrutable that way.
Amazon proves yet again how bizarre it can be: offering used copies at a higher price than new. Why only three reviews? Come on, chaps!!

Mood music definitely plays a part. Who do I fancy being today? Frayed collars I can live with, holes in jumpers get fixed by the Miracle Worker down the road: Christine and her Invisible Mending. Too long in the tooth to be 'studenty'. Anonymity is desirable.

I'm putting this back where it belongs. If only to serve as a reminder. Hoping US sales are going to be more than healthy.
I don't think of it as a competition between the two books where biggest sale is a vindication.
The book will appeal to lovers of The Look, for whom it is written. Those with other agendas will growl & frown at it. But is isn't written for them. It's written for those who just love the Ivy Look. Its aim is to delight those who are delighted by this world of button-downs & loafers that captivates some of us so.
Christian must go and write the book on Ivy that he would like to read. And then we can all give our opinions on that.
The Ivy book will be regarded fondly by all of those who are actually into all these clothes of ours.
If you want politics, social class aspirations and a war between England & America you won't find it here. This is a book from the real world, not the bloggy, frothy 'world' online.
Buy it & love it if you love Ivy.
