Pulled this out of the archive and have been enjoying it this lazy Sunday morning.
Love: Forever Changes
Maybe a bit hippy/summer of love for some...
Feeling very twentieth century this morning, I am listening to Ravel's often unnoticed piano work, Le Tombeau de Couperin. I only recently noticed it myself although I've had it on a disc with other works for years. I'm smitten by the first, second, and sixth pieces, Prelude, Fugue, and Toccata. The others I could leave.
Ina - Hot... today I discovered that she has interesting songs
"We don't need no education"
"We don't need no thought control"
...

Today:
Led Zeppelin III
The mighty Zep get all acoustic....Well sort of..
Hangman, hangman,
hold it a little while,
Think I see my friends coming,
Riding a many mile,
Friends, did you get some silver?
Did you get a little gold?
What did you bring me, my dear friends,
To keep me from the Gallows Pole?
What did you bring me to keep me from the Gallows Pole
...
Wilson Pickett (and the MGs) doing "Ninety-Nine and a Half (Just Won't Do)"
Jimmy Smith "The Cat" album
"Theme from Joy House"
"The Cat"
"Basin Street Blues" (
"Main Title from The Carpetbaggers"
"Chicago Serenade"
"St. Louis Blues"
"Delon's Blues"
"Blues in the Night"
"The Old Bazaar In Cairo" Clinton Ford with George Chisholm & The Inmates. Very funny and politically incorrect
I must dig out an old cassette tape I had of Joan Sutherland in 'Lucia di Lammermoor'. I suppose Sator will be upset to see the passing of an Australian opera legend.
On a recent motorway trip I listened to 'After the Goldrush' and 'Harvest' by Neil Young to recreate a student bedsit vibe and also 'Kind of Blue' which I got with the 'Ivy Look'. Doing something else like driving helps.
"No Place To Fall" by Townes Van Zandt. Again. And Patrick's reminded me to listen to Wilson Pickett, which will doubtless get me onto Bobby Womack.
Today's gem from the archive...
Bruce Springsteen: Tunnel of Love.
My personal favourite album from The Boss.
Released in '87, Jesus, seems like yesterday.
