They offer both custom and ready-made shoes, and while it would not be practical for me to do custom, the ready-made option is interesting. Wondering if anyone has knowledge of, or experience with, their shoes. Thanks.
Crispin's apparently cannot insert a steel toe plate, but no matter because I just received a new pair of ready-made monkstrap shoes from Cleverley's that kick ass. The picture in the link below doesn't do them justice (second from left), however they really are good-looking and, most important, c-o-m-f-o-r-t-a-b-l-e. They are a fairly new design with a square toe. And, a small fraction of the cost of "bespoke" shoes. Kudos to Cleverley's for great service in transatlantic shipping and in getting the toe plates done with surgical precision.

To be fair to St. Crispin's, I subsequently heard from them that they do the steel toe inserts. Cost and distance for custom-made SC shoes are prohibitive factors in my case.
