"You may wish to consult with an interior designer, as I have done. Be sure they know you are in search of that old-money, WASPy style (as characterised in Ralph Lauren print ads) and I am sure they will put something together for you. For me, the hardest part about pulling off the trad lifestyle is the decor inside the home. The clothes are easy enough, who doesn't know what that looks like, and they are relatively affordable, but how often do we get the opportunity to glimpse inside of their homes?
In regards to the furniture making, forget about it. Once you embark on the aspirational dream of the trad lifestyle, as I have done, there is just no time at the end of the day.
Good luck and keep me posted."
No name, no blame. But this reads to me like an admission of playing dress-up. The bloke in question edited it afterwards, but even so none of the forum had any problems with it...
"Once you embark on the aspirational dream of the Trad lifestyle, as I have done..."?
I wish I was Ralph Lauren...
te.
Sorry I can't reply right now Tone, me wifes got out the Kodak again...
Say CHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESE!
Two things:
1. I sure hope the first post that started the thread was said tongue-in-cheek. I can't possibly imagine that the post was not written in jest. No one can have their heads that far up their.................
2. This followup post on that thread should be the motto of many:
"Whatever style you choose, remember that the word "classy" is really classy. Perhaps carve it prominently into an armoire to emphasize your mettle"

Perhaps Ralph Lauren should branch out into real estate, selling copies of the Rhinelander Mansion. It shouldn't be too difficult, after all he's already built a copy of the Rhinelander interior in his Bond St. London store.
I expect the 'Dixie Dandy' would be first in line to buy one.
Remember the original (tiny) RL shop on Bond Street with the specially put in creeky floorboards?
I thought it was funny at the time. Who could guess that people would buy into it all so heavily?
God I wish I was him!
RL is THE Trad troll!
He IS a one off.
Not Trad, not Ivy League.
He's got his own style. People have bought into it as being 'Southern Trad'.
I suspect he is the start of a brand new forum.
I had quite a neat email about the above this morning calling the whole thing an exercise in 'Classturbation'.
A little vulgar but it made me smile!
