Hello,
I have just relocated from Europe to the Northeastern US and am a bit at a loss as to where to find a good tailor here.
Would any of you be so kind to propose some recommendations?
A bit of context, perhaps. Mid-40's, have some disposable income, am used to a somewhat relaxed Italian silhouette (Sicilian tailoring, mostly), but not too narrow minded or dogmatic about it... I'm looking for somebody who is willing to work with me and develop the dialogue that makes for good bespoke. Without being too obsessive about it, a good tailor.
I would hope that Rubinacci and Fioravanti prices are not inescapable, even in NYC. I am used to paying anywhere between USD 3.500 and 5.000 for a suit - would pay a premium, but within limit... I mean, I am a management consultant and have a deep understanidng of overcharging, if you know what I mean :-)... Frankly, it would be cheaper for me to go to Seminara in Florence and have 3-4 suits made with certainty of outcome than to fool around at 10.000 dollars a pop, but the Italian solution would impose a cycle time on my suits of 1 year +, and where's the fun in that?
Any advice you can extend is very welcome and appreciated.
Probably worth it to head to Rochester NY for a weekend and get some things made for you by Adrian Jules company.
I would call ahead of time an tell them what you want so they can tell you whether to go to the store or factory.
