In London next Saturday (just for the day)

My present plans are to devote the day to the British Museum.  I've only been to London twice before and as is typical for business travel, usually have just a little time for leisure.  Past visits have included Westminster Abbey and the Tower of London.

Being a clothes hound, I'd consider spending time browsing the shops, but (1) I'm not a big fan of just taking up the staffs' time if I don't intend to buy, and (2) my obvious choice would be shoos but I figure that unless I want to spend at least the equivalent of $1200 (give or take a little), I should just stick to the US market here at home.  Does anyone want to talk me out of those thoughts?  When in Paris I bought a few ties at Charvet; is there an equivalent 'quintessential London' item?

Still haven't decided what to do for dinner on Friday night. Someplace in Mayfair maybe?

I recommend Cording's for cord and moleskin trousers, especially if you like to wear braces/suspenders. They also have some great sports and shooting jackets that you cannot buy from the online shop.

For dinner on Friday evening, I suggest Wilton's in Jermyn Street or Boisdale of Belgravia (the best place to smoke cigars with its legal, almost indoor, terrace.
