Even if I hated tobacco, I'd certainly take it up just because of the body fascist movement.  The middle-aged of thirty years ago who meekly gave up smoking and drinking anything like enough in order to live an extra ten or twenty years over 70 are now becoming organically healthy cripples: with problems of mobility, continence and failing sight and hearing. But they live on with a grim determination; clogging up the wards of NHS hospitals as families seek out nursing homes for their long sunsets. These old folk are costing a fortune to the Health Service and far more than the smokers who pay vast tobacco taxes to fund it and go out of life fairly swiftly, while they are still enjoying it.

Many, many inane arguments have been thrown in this thread. But there is one that takes the cake for entertainment value. It is always priceless to see, over and over again, how the Real Housewives overvalue their influence on the business success of custom tailors. To wit the last pages of this thread:

http://www.styleforum.net/showthread.php?t=67666&page=156

Reality check: Real tailors who have been many decades in the business with established reputations and clientele couldn't care less about whatever is discussed on an internet forum full of ignorants and whose business and influence represent a tiny fraction of these tailors' worth, if any at all.

Honestly, I bet many of these tailors discussed would be better off without having these iGents as clients.

(You can always skip the headache-inducing arguers, by the way.)

"Alternatively, if you are in London, go along to W Bill and have a browse amongst the shelves there; there are some lovely Shetlands, some of which you won't find in any bunch."

Bullshit! You can't just walk into W Bill off the street. You have to go with your tailor.

Contrary to lies of FNB and Woofboxer, I (and most of the other "Buff Bastards") have been banned from posting on this forum. There are only a few posters left so don't waste your time on here. This forum is dead and nobody cares.

Re: Inane Post of the Day 3 Now With Double Inanity Blocking Powerrrrr!

A curious post from a frigid Minnesotan.  He lives "in Downtown" and spends a great deal of time outside on the street waiting for buses.  What should he wear to stay warm?  May I be the first to suggest wearing a car? Is "Downtown" so backward that they don't have heated bus shelters?  Can you wait inside someplace until you see the bus, and run out and catch it? Or can you go to something called a "store" and ask the salesperson for clothing that is considered warm by your fellow Minnesotans?  I wouldn't think this was a difficult problem to solve, if I hadn't read the part of his post where he admits to, "... posting this two years ago and getting the answer then that I may as well just do the before mentioned," or something.
