Despite the old illustrations, I think it looks best only on short(er) men. The dukes were short men and they looked fine in this type of jacket, and I bet it was designed with their stature in mind.

The answer is in the first post, from that international man of mystery and superlative photographic postings of historical significance, Mr Carpu65: "fashion", the Kent/reefer double breasted will every decade or so return for a brief six months of being in fashion. Having worn one, or something very similar at my uncle's wedding back in '89, it was a mistake then and is a mistake now.
