Footwear production in China is having massive problems keeping in business. Chinese are suddenly leaving the industry in droves without prior warning and are finding jobs in electronics because it pays better. Over Christmas some factories are expecting to lose 40% of their workers never to come back, and it will take three years for factories to recover (train more unskilled people to make footwear). ln fact, what they are now doing is moving the Chinese footwear factories more inland where jobs are scarce, just so the people stay at the footwear jobs. 

The scene is a real mess. Future footwear production from China can't be guaranteed any longer.
