Murray's Shetlands

I see Murray's Toggery shop on Nantucket (limerick anyone?) has expanded their website. They are listing made in Scotland shetlands, cable and plain, many colors, numbered sizes.
I wonder what the English Ivy Leaguers make of America's secret weapon: embroidered corduroy trousers.

Re: Murray's Shetlands

Thanks for that -
That is the 'suit-yourself' attitude that I always thought it was all about.
Telling the world to 'Go to Hell' if they didn't like your choice of pants.
When I introduced the first GTH thread to Andy's Trads I got some rather mixed and muddled reactions as I recall... Something about Trad being all about good manners and nobody would tell the world to 'Go to Hell'...
Tom Wolfe, M Magazine & the OPH write about the style as being fun-loving. I think Wolfe calls it deliberately boorish, but I'd need to check.

I like that 'Here's one in your eye' attitude and I think your Grandfather was quite right.
Maybe that attitude had a bit too much 'spirit' about it for the Trads back last year...
They're different now I think. Changing everyday.

t.

Oh - & I'd love to know where to get good Shetlands in the UK too.

Re: Murray's Shetlands

If you go the O'Connell's website I trhink somewhere in their photograph archives they have a pic of their "Dirty Old Man' embroidered cords. Funny, but not even I would wear them.
