What have we lost recently? Maitland the chemist at the top of the Piccadilly Acade; Shervington the tobacconist at Holborn Bars and also D R Harris's Pick-me-up tonic has been banned because it contained some things that were legal in 1850 but no more (despite the fact that the tonic contributed its bit to get the Queen Mother to age 102). What else have we lost?
Baron in Piccadilly closed earlier this year (a victim of the Crown Estate development with Herbie Frogg in Jermyn Street). Baron had some great bargains.
I bought a pair of galoshes (rubbers) in Baron once (when they were difficult to get elsewhere): A bit like Grace Bros, I thought: RIP.

Fishers chippy in Fulham opposite Old Hat vintage clothes. Fire, so may re-open. Chips are a bit crisp for my liking but I have never eaten in.

I don't know Fishers. The Laughing Halibut (Strutton Ground); The Frier's Delight (Theobald's Road); Green's (Duke Street); Livebait (Waterloo); Geales Farmer St W8; The Sea Shell (Lisson Grove - also recent fire trouble) and Toff's in Muswell Hill are my favourite fish 'n' chip Shoppes.
