I think Allen Edmonds has done a nice job keeping the MacNeil relevant and true to what a LWB should be.

the AE MacNeil IS a nice shoe, but it just doesn't compare to the older v-cleat Kenmoors.  The welt used in recent year models of the MacNeil just seems a bit plasticky to me.  They're also lighter weight than the vintage Imperial.  I have no experience with older AE models, so I can't say if they were once made heavier and more "robust", as the kenmoor once was.

Hell, ALL U.S. made shoes were once nicer.  I have a pair of old Nunn Bush Water Buffalo skin wingtips that weigh a freaking ton.  Those days are long gone.  From now on, I'm sticking to vintage models for my US made shoes.
