Ask Adolf About C;lothes

I recently had this correspondence with Adolf aka Andy, following the suggestion that I offer him bribes to advertise the book. It turns out that he does follow FNB and so, presumably, cares what is said about him here, in this fine place:

First mail:
Dear Andy,

We seem to have missed to wish each other Happy New Years! How would you feel about the possibility of having an initial stock of 100 free copies of Book II to sell for your own 100% profit through the site to give the book the US uplift that it needs and, after that, we could reassess the situation to our mutual benefit?

best,

Nicholas.

Adolf's reply:
Nicholas:

Now that’s a reasonable approach!  Much better than to SPAM the AskAndy Forum.  Spam advertising is the most ignorant marketing approach.  You have successfully alienated your potential clients at AskAndy, which gets over 1,200,000 hits (and possible customers) a day!

Also your idea of letting me know before you put up the SPAM so that I could have put up an Amazon link would have made more sense.   I make lots of money from Amazon and you would have sold plenty of books!

Even your buddies at FNB think the SPAM was the wrong approach.

The problem with selling the books myself is that I have vast experience with mailing my CD Rom before we switched to downloading.  I’d have to put up a sales link on my site and then I would have to do the packaging and posting of each book.  Believe me that’s a real pain.  I’ll pass.

I finally remembered that your last suspension on the Forum was some rude remarks made to another Member.  I never got a response until now about that! ??

Andy

My rejoinder:

Dear Andy,
I had nerver realized, until recently, what an anally retentive, meretricious, fubsy and greedy little twit you are. As for alienating the dorks who frequent your site: I can't see that you did anything for my book: so stick your site up your jumper or anywhere else that you consider conveniently accessible.

He lied to you about his vast experience emailing the CD Rom, because that implies he's sold lots of copies. Even Jovan only bought 10.

Re: Ask Adolf About C;lothes

I think your offer of 100 free books was most generous.  Shillcrist is small time and has no one workimg for him who could ship the books but that is not a good excuse. He could ship the books to Florida and Jovan could do the labeling, shipping, etc., nude, in the privacy of his bedroom.  It was clear Shillcrist wanted cash, which is the last thing any sensible person wants to give him.

Now, about these 1,200,000 daily hits...

Anytime I've ever looked at the site there are 187 poor souls viewing the Fashion forum and another 68 saps at the Trad forum. Very few if any people are at the other forums.  Even ignoring the fact that half of these 255 spendthrifts are moderators, how does this paltry number become 1,200,000 visitors per day?

I like the fact that Andy is always Andy & that his forum laws seem to extend out into the real world...

Telling people off for disrespecting his forum & forum members is delicious when done in the big wide hazy world away from his control.

I know it's meant to make him look big, to me it makes him look really iParochial. Just an iPerson, nobody real.

He may as well be called "Russell Street"...

Re: Ask Adolf About C;lothes

You could say that the rot set in with Harold Wilson: the politics of envy, quite distinct from the post-War Atlee government's policies to improve the lot of the general population: the British NHS (for all that is wrong with it), is one of the great milestones in the advancement of mankind in the second half of the twentieth century and I wasn't just on the Bill team for a statute aimed at introducing business practices into hospital and family practitioner administration. However, I agree that Blair and Brown's post-Thatcherite policies were the only viable route for any Labour-led government to take power as the country (indeed, much of the world) were, in some unfathomable way, seduced by the Iron Lady.

How did it come about that Andy did the intro (to AAAC) to your first book?

Did you ask him to do so? What is so different about this new book getting a mention and the first one?

I thought you would be valued as an author who had written a book on clothes. Surely that makes you an Internet Big Timer?

Re: Ask Adolf About C;lothes

What is the exact title of your new book on accessories and when will it be available in the USA?

Your first book was a real delight. I was just reading it the other night. It inspired me to take the plunge and order a plantation-style Panama for our hot weather.

Yes, yes, Andy's a dolt. but "Adolfh"? Come along now, that's a bit harsh.  "Aldoph the Peacemaker" is as far as I will go.  Even when shitfaced, which is everyday now.
