$60 (50 GBP at the time) for Turnbull RTW in 1984 is pretty cool.
To give an idea of how much the dollar has weakened, 50 GBP in 1984, adjusted for inflation, is about 108 GBP in 2005. At the average exchange rate in 2005 ($1.8204 to 1 GBP) that works out to about $197.
Whereas $60 in 1984 is about $120 in 2005 dollars. Quite a difference!
Don't get me started on $81 for (at least MTM) Charvet!
I was in Paris in 1985. Charvet tie=$12. RTW Charvet shirt=about $25. A navy wool blazer there=$150. Lunch at Lucas-Carton (now defunct)=$12-$15. The English come here to shop.

Steven
Twas indeed a beautiful time. I picked up some very good quality RTW made in Britain flannel and my first bespoke H&H shirts.
