Re: The Birth of Power Dressing: Renaissance Fashion

What was it fashionable to wear in the 16th century?

A slideshow of images from Ulinka Rublack's article The Birth of Power Dressing published in the January 2011 issue of History Today.

Why was the Renaissance a turning point in people's attitudes to clothes and their appearance? In her study of Renaissance dress, Ulinka Rublack shows that the appeal of fashion is nothing new.

Here is a selection of some of the images illustrating her article The Birth of Power Dressing.

Re: The Birth of Power Dressing: Renaissance Fashion

I got curious when I read the title of this thread but I was not able to read the article on the given link. It is a bit awkward since thinking about the Renaissance period makes me imagine flat caps and doublets.
