As my books are reprinted (DV) - the first one already has been - I am keeping files on corrections, amendments and additions and should value any suggestions for corrections from readers who spot any mistakes in relation to anything at all. I should add that I am removing the directory from Book I as it is too much to have to keep up with business moves, mergers and closures.

I assume that you will get rid of ShillChrist's introduction.
Thanks, Big Tony: I'll have a careful look and see what I can do. I promise that it is not time wasted and I am grateful. After all, I was brought up in the era when "The Customer Was Always Right" - unlike our own times. I recall once having to deal with a 'telephone banker', reading from his hamstrung manual, and he did not (could not), tell me what I wanted to hear and would not even listen. So, I said: "You're a turd". Against my expectation, he did not reel off "Sir, I am terminating this conversation, as you have become abusive", he actually said "WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY?" and I repeated "You're a turd: T-U-R-D" and then I bade him "Good Day" and I hung up. Delicious. Try it sometime.
best,
NJS

Big Tony - all your suggestions have been taken onboard.
Many thanks.
I read the chapter on hats yesterday afternoon and thought it was one of the best & most focused chapters. One point that should be added: the reason Nelson wore his bicorne side-to-side was Royal Navy custom at the time; the Army custom was the opposite hence Wellington wore his fore-and-aft (slightly to one side, actually).
