Re: When bespoke wishes and fabric dreams go wrong

I'm not that fussy about pattern matching to be honest, for one, it ain't always possible.

The pattern on Alden's coat matches at the top of the arm (blue stripe). It doesn't seem to match further down (chest area) but this is illusion caused by the drape.

That said I am not a fan of Aldens tailoring.

Re: When bespoke wishes and fabric dreams go wrong

I just don't understand this two roll three thingo.

It is passable on a tweedy sportscoat but just looks weird on any other material. Looks like a misplaced button hole.

I am aware its a bit of a trad fetish but whats the thinking behind it?

Why not have a two button with the lapel rolling a bit higher than the top button?

In real life do people use it to have a two button sometimes and then a 3 button at others? However if an iGent never does up the top button how can you use it as a 3 button?

I'm willing to accept that it means something in USA circles as a sly signal (signifier?) of a throwback or a nod to another era or something to others in the know. Is that the explanation?
